Mike and Meredith Love Our National Parks!

After a hike down to Crater Lake, Mike jumped off the high rocks into the frigid water on a "Mere Dare". Mere also took a dip and won a July snowball fight in Oregon's Favorite (and only) National Park.

Oregon Caves National Monument: Mike was a teenage Cave Tour Guide; Meredith was mildly impressed with his spelunking prowess. However, she was wowed by his secret Southern Oregon swimmin' holes.

New Year's Day: No, Mount Hood isn't a National Park...yet. There were some serious proposals to make it Oregon's second N.P., after Crater Lake--shown on the Oregon Quarter!

Mt. Rainier National Park was sweltering on Labor Day. Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah, was a delight in mid-October.

Meredith was awed by the Grand Canyon over a spring break trip afew years back. "Don't get too close to the edge!" Mike enjoyed Yellowstone and Grand Teton again in May 2009--promised to take Mere next time to the Old Faithful Inn.

El Portal: Overlooking the Yosemite Valley, we could hardly believe the climbers ascending El Capitan, Half Dome, et al. Maybe they were trying to get away from the mosquitoes on the valley floor! (Summer 1995: Glacier Bay National Park was cool.)
